FACTS & FIGURES

88 foreign white wines fromvarious European wine-growing regions weresubmitted to the Concours this year. At the top is one of last year's best white wines, the Riesling from the Gitana Winery in Moldova. Joining it on the podium are two Italian gems: a Garda Bianco from Veneto and a Pecorino from Abruzzo.

Fresh and fruity wind from the south

First place went to a Riesling from Moldova, which had already finished on the podium last year, beating two trouvailles from Italy into second and third place. The variety of European wines submitted to the Concours is impressive.

The Ribera del Duero towers above all! Spain sent 82 red wines into the race, with the Ribera del Duero dominating the field. All three winning wines come from this region, which is very popular on the Swiss market.
They are either pure Tempranillo wines or contain a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon.
